Guy R. Orangio, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Orangio graduated Cum Laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Orangio completed his general surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center and his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio.
In practice since 1985, Dr. Orangio has served in many physician leadership roles at several of the hospitals in the greater Atlanta area. He has been the Chief of the Department of General/ Colon & Rectal Surgery, Vice Chief of Staff and then Chief of Staff at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Currently he is a member of the Finance Committee, Patient Safety/Quality Management Committee and Hospital Board of Directors at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Dr. Orangio is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Socioeconomic Committee for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Orangio has dedicated time to the community by currently serving as Executive Board Member of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Georgia/Tennessee Chapters and the Medical Education Committee. He is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American Medical Association and the Medical Association of Georgia. He is one of the Founders of Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates as well as its President and managing partner.
